FREE CYBERSECURITY TRAINING AND CERTIFICATIONS APRIL 2020

Cyber security training and certifications can cost vast amounts of money. Luckily for us, there is a lot of good free stuff out there too. Check out my favourite free training and certifications below.

1. CYBRARY

Cybrary is the best overall completely free source of cyber security information out there. There are over 1000 courses on the site, with a lot of them focusing on cyber security. They range from beginner introductions on cybersecurity, all the way up to advanced topics, such as CISSP and CASP+ courses. Check it out https://www.cybrary.it/

2. MICROSOFT AZURE AZ-900 TRAINING AND FREE CERTIFICATION

Microsoft are offering a free, three-part course to improve your understanding of cloud concepts and acquire the knowledge you need to earn the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certification. If you attend all 3 days, they give you a voucher to sit the exam for free. Sign up here shorturl.at/aEX09

3. TED TALKS

Here me out on this one. TED TALKS can be a great way to learn cyber security topics. They aren’t set training or certifications as such, but I learned a lot from them. To find more of these, simply go on youtube and search “Ted Talks cyber security” and enjoy, I promise you will learn something.

4. IBM SECURITY LEARNING ACADEMY

IBM offer great free training on all of their products. I particularly like the QRadar courses on their site. Check them out here https://www.securitylearningacademy.com/

5. FORTINET NSE 1 AND NSE 2

Fortinet offer both their NSE 1 and 2 certifications for free of charge. This includes training and a final exam.

NSE 1 covers “learn about the cybersecurity threats that organizations are facing today.  We refer to this ever-changing set of dangers as The Threat Landscape.” NSE 2 goes on to covers “learn about the types of security products that have been created by security vendors to address those problems.”

6. OPEN SECURITY TRAINING

Open Security Training’s website doesn’t look great, but the information on it is. With beginner courses like “Introduction to Network Forensics” right up to advanced courses like “Reverse Engineering Malware” it is well worth checking out – http://opensecuritytraining.info/Training.html

7. MIT OPENCOURSEWARE

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology is one of the most well known and respected computing Universities in the world. It may come as a surprise then that they offer lots of free courses online. 8. ICS-CERT BY HOMELAND SECURITY

If you are interested in learning about cyber security for Industrial Control Systems, the US Department of Homeland Security have some great resources. Check out their free videos on the topic here – https://ics-cert-training.inl.gov/learn

9. CISCO NETWORKING ACADEMY

Cisco offer a “Networking Academy” which in total has 245 hours of content on topics such as Cybersecurity, IOT, Linux and Python. Well worth a look https://www.cisco.com/c/m/en_sg/partners/cisco-networking-academy/index.html

10. STANFORD UNIVERSITY

Stanford University offer a variety of cyber security webinars either through their website at https://computersecurity.stanford.edu/free-online-videos or on their YouTube channel – https://www.youtube.com/user/stanfordonline. These are provide by experts free of charge and will help to greatly increase your knoweledge.

11. KENSAW STATE UNIVERSITY

Kensaw State University have a well designed, free course called “Cybersecurity and its Ten Domains”

The course covers governance and risk management, compliance, business continuity and disaster recovery, cryptography, software development security, access control, network security, security architecture, security operations, and physical and environmental security. 12. ORACLE TRAINING AND FREE EXAMS

Oracle have just released over 60 hours of free training, which is currently available until May 15th.

Oracle University will provide users with free access to an extensive library of materials for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Oracle Autonomous Database, as well as content related to topics such as data science, machine learning, and multi-cloud environments such as integration with Microsoft Azure.

13. CLASS CENTRAL

Class Central – https://www.classcentral.com/subject/cybersecurity currently have 188 courses available related to cyber security. These courses are provided by a variety of Universities from around the world.
